Dean’s Welcome

Welcome to Arkansas’ newest college of medicine!

The Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine is a dynamic addition to the Heritage development in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Located on 430 acres, the school welcomed its inaugural class of 150 aspiring physicians in August of 2017. The college becomes the first of several health-related training programs under the auspices of the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education, an entity formed for the express purpose of training highly competent and compassionate healthcare professionals, to support health research and to provide a healthy living environment. The key focus of ARCOM and other programs is to provide service in underserved areas.

We continue to attract talented faculty who will challenge medical students through instruction in basic sciences, in clinical practice and in the precepts of osteopathic medicine. Clinical experiences will be provided in cooperation with regional clinics and hospitals through the expertise of healthcare providers in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.

Providing a great instructional environment in a state-of-the-art 102,000, square-foot facility featuring the latest in technology, classroom space for both large and small groups, clinical practice areas and laboratory space which are second to none. This facility anchors what will soon become a center of medical education and healthful living in Fort Smith’s newest neighborhood.

As Dean, it is my pleasure to lead these instructors and mentors as we welcome each class of students who want to make a difference in the lives of patients young and old.

I hope that you will visit us and experience the excitement of this new venture into health education in Arkansas.
